Are Delicata products organic?

Absolutely. Every ingredient we use is organic. No exceptions! Using the highest quality ingredients is our top priority.

Will Delicata products suit my skin type?

Our products are specifically formulated to suit all skin types! Rest assured your skin is in good hands (although we always recommend a patch test first).

Is your tallow purified? I’m concerned about the smell!

No, in fact we are staunchly against the practice of “purifying” (i.e. refining) tallow! Many brands adopt this practice in an effort to reduce the tallow’s “beefy” smell, despite there being evidence to suggest this damages the tallow’s unique and fundamental properties.

Furthermore, the process of purification introduces water to the beef fat which can cause mould and other pathogens if not sufficiently dried, or may cause the tallow to go rancid.

At Delicata, we respect the natural properties of tallow in the manner God made it, and have invested the time to formulate our products to smell delicious without taking these risks. Rest assured, we've fully addressed any beefy scent in other innovative ways which maintain the tallow's natural properties and enhance product effectiveness!

Are Delicata products edible?

While using top quality (real!) ingredients is our highest priority, Delicata products are made for external use only.

Will using tallow clog my pores?

Since tallow has a similar fatty acid profile to human skin, it’s considered non-comedogenic. This means it absorbs well into the skin and won’t clog your pores. A small amount also spreads well over the face.

Is tallow safe for sensitive skin, allergies and conditions such as eczema or psoriasis?

Tallow is hypoallergenic and generally safe in all these situations. As always however, we strongly recommend patch testing with all products before extensive use (as all skin is different).

In our experience, we find Delicata tallow balm provides excellent relief for skin facing these challenges, due to it’s moisturising and skin barrier-protecting properties. We would also recommend checking with your healthcare practitioner in any of these scenarios.

Is tallow safe for children and babies?

Yes, tallow balms containing all natural ingredients can be used by children and babies, however patch testing is recommended before widespread use. Delicata tallow balm contains essential oils, however all have been diluted into the carrier oils below the recommended dilution ratios.

What is the shelf life of Delicata products and how should they be stored?

Delicata honey cleanser and tallow balm should be used within 6 months of receipt. Both honey and tallow are very shelf-stable ingredients, and are recommended to be stored in cool, dry places away from direct sunlight.

Temperature can impact the texture of Delicata products because they’re 100% natural and don’t contain preservatives, emulsifiers or stabilisers. For example, honey may candy in the cold and tallow may soften in the heat. These texture changes do not impact product effectiveness and can be remedied at home. If honey candies or tallow becomes too hard, the jar can be placed in a bowl of warm water. On the other hand, if tallow softens, it can be placed in the fridge for a short while.

What skincare routine does Delicata recommend?

At Delicata we believe simplicity is key and less is more. We recommend a simple two-step skincare routine. Firstly, wash your face with Delicata honey cleanser. Next, apply Delicata tallow balm and your skin is ready for the day!

We recommend this two-step process morning and night.

Can Delicata products be used under makeup?

Yes! Delicata products can be used underneath makeup, and tallow balm works as an excellent primer. Our honey cleanser can also be used to remove makeup!

However, consistent with the non-toxic nature of our products, we strongly recommend minimising the use of makeup because it contains harmful toxins! Alongside Delicata products, reducing makeup usage will also greatly assist with skin repair and healing.
